MUSEU DA LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA (São paulo)

For two years, I had the enormous privilege of collaborating on the artistic conception of the Museum of the Portuguese Language. I worked alongside the renowned curator and artistic director Marcello Dantas, spending long nights and early mornings in the building under renovation, while Estação da Luz was being brought back to life under the supervision of architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha.

My contribution ranged from selecting the typeface family used throughout the museum to designing the main permanent exhibitions, including the development of innovative technologies, creative solutions for mapped projections, and various roles in art direction and design. All of this was accomplished in partnership with an exceptional team of artists, engineers, linguists, designers, curators, musicians, communicators, and filmmakers.

The achievement I am most proud of is the Praça da Língua, located on the third floor and known as the “Language Planetarium.” This installation is an immersive experience that features a selection of texts from Brazilian literature and music, projected in a sound and light show onto the underside of the museum’s roof. We developed a series of animations based on audio recordings by renowned musicians, actors, and poets, as well as archival material, resulting in almost 40 minutes of dynamic programming divided into three sessions.

The Praça da Língua is a moving and unforgettable experience that has been on permanent display since 2006.
